Hey folks, I know it’s been a beat since I wrote anything here. I’m busy with my day job as US Editor-in-Chief of TechRadar. That said, I wonder if this could be a place where I let loose. But what does that mean? I think I’m pretty open in my writing wherever it lives.
I could talk about my industry and how it’s struggling to find a path forward in the face of Google search “optimization” and AI content creators.
I could talk about the election year and how AI-powered misinformation could distort facts beyond recognition and manipulate public sentiment until we have the worst possible result.
I could talk about the past and how it informs the present and future. The older I get (hitting a significant milestone this year), the more I think about the past. It’s almost like time is refocusing my fuzzy memories and recollections keep popping into my brain like sharp slideshows.
While I find it comforting to remember how things were, I sometimes get a little melancholy about what we’ve lost. My life was complicated but life did seem a little simpler.
I could spend some time writing about my changing views on social media. Lately, it’s dawned on me that humans were not built for this level or scale of connection and information about what people they hardly know are doing (or fake doing). Years from now we’ll look at the Social media Age and may not be kind.
Let’s see where this goes.
P.S. If you’re curious about the Apple Vision Pro, you should read my massive review.
P.S.S. I created the above image in Microsoft CoPilot (which uses DALL-E) in 30 seconds. Illustrators and artists like me are screwed.
